LET US REASON TOGETHER!
The recent revelation that the so called Boko Haram insurgents have kidnapped more than a hundred school girls is monstrous and despicable.
Looking at the Federal Republic of Nigeria, one will visualize a dismal picture. Our country which we have pledged to be faithful, loyal and honest is failing its citizens which are bent on sacrificing their all for the prosperity of the nation. A shocking look at our nation, we would without much ado realize that our one time a great nation is now characterized by political inequality, economic instability and social insensitivity.
Pardon my digression, but it is pertinent to note that the happenings of today is anchored on other occurences prior to now which the government have failed woefully to contain. How will a country like the Federal Republic of Nigeria with all the resources at her dis
posal be flippant in containing this security situation despite the self-acclamation of being the giant of Africa. Does our action in re
cent times showcase the name we have been trumpheting for many years? How can young innocent girls be whisked away just like peguins? Have human beings become grossly insignificant that this nation of ours disregard our safety despite security alerts and even warning from the Boko Haram insurgents? Haba! How can the insurgents comfortably abduct more
than a hundred girls with relative ease with as many vehicles as possible on a government ro
ad without being noticed and allowed to be taken into the forest to possibly their hiding abode? Are the insurgents more intelligent than our security agents? Is the budget they present to their own National Assembly more than ours that they procure superior fire arms and ammunition? Is the government sincere to us that it is winning the war against this insurgents? This are all questions based on rhetorics because only our good conscience will answer them appropriately but as a lawyer in the training I will say "RES IPSA LIQUITOR"
The recent happenings in this country epitomizes our government's lack of commitment to the actualization of security of life and property in Nigeria, it showcases our government's insincerity in tackling the menace, it depicts the failure of our state to emulate our heroes past, it portrays the flippant nature of our security system.
When singing the National Anthem my spirit of patriotism is failing me because it simply tells me that if care is not taken, the labour of our heroes past will sooner or later be in vain. As a patriotic Nigeria, I believe we would reach the promise land. But my fear is my own definition of promise land is optimistic while I dont know the government's definition of promise land, one would hope it is not pessimistic. Let us urge the goverment to be sincere to us and be truly commited to making the Federal Republic of Nigeria a united nation which posterity will be glad they belong. I will simply like to end this on a philosophical note which says "NOTHING IS HIDDEN WHICH IS NOT A SECRET AND NOTHING IS FOUND WHICH IS NOT A TREASURE". Our beloved leaders please settle your political problems within yourselves because hiding it and playing it on the entire populace is highly detrimental to the growth of our beloved nation. I still pledge to Nigeria my country, to be faithful, loyal and honest, to serve Nigeria with all my strenght, to defend her unity and to uphold her honor and glory. I am presently exercising the particular act of being honest and honesty is the basis of this article. May the Almighty continue to guide us as a nation.

WHERE IS THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT?
I have never seen anywhere in this world where a child cries without a sane mother immediately attending to her needs. Even that mad woman you see on the street will throw tantrum at anybody who dares to tamper with her beloved child.
When Nigeria was conceived in 1960, many rejoiced and celebrated. Perhaps, they thought there was a reason to so rejoice. Hmmmm! They cannot be blamed afterall.
First, the military made the attempt to nurse and protect its child, but unfortunately it failed because as many thought, it was repressive, corrupt and undemocratic.  The euphoria in the nation now is crucial to the understanding that the present democratic undertaking will succeed. We embraced democracy because we believed it will bring about increase in the role of the ordinary people to humanize the society. I, like many others have been deceiving myself thinking democracy is for the people. But on the contrary, the term democracy has become a government of the leaders, by the leaders and for the leaders. In my own view, a leader should be someone who exerts unusual influence and considerable power. A leader is one who makes things happen that which would not happen otherwise. If the leader causes changes that he intended, he has exercised power, however, if he causes changes that he did not intend or want, he has exercised influence. (McFarland, 1969).
If u ask me, I’ll say my mother is a good leader and I’m double sure that your response will be the same as mine. But the questions that keeps creeping into my mind is whose mother is Nigeria as a whole? Definitely not mine because I, for one, am not so confident to willfully and joyfully refer to this nation as ‘my motherland’. For unlike my mother, who would give the world to ensure and safeguard my security, my ‘arbitrary’ mother turns deaf ears to her child’s loud cry. Or what name do we give to all the disastrous events that have been eating so deep into our dear country.
The Boko Haram insurgencies is more than a handful already. Our so called motherland has become a synonym for fear and bloodshed. We can no longer boast of safety even in our own mother’s ‘womb’. The militant group has bombed schools, churches and even mosques. Kidnapped many and assassinated innocent men and women alike.
It made headlines again this week with the abduction of more than 100 poor school girls in the town of chibok, borno state, in the north-east Nigeria. After a fierce gun battle with soldiers, the militants herded the girls out of their warm beds and unto some buses and sped off. As we speak, there is no positive result as to their whereabouts.  All we hear is a 50 million naira reward for any information leading to their whereabouts. Now, that’s the only situations where ‘our mother’ donates money to charity. Instead of expending the  money on vital things that would provide us with the best ‘breast milk’ that we obviously lack.
Or did you not hear about the killing of those innocent 49 future leaders that were wasted in yobe state recently? How about the nyanya park bomb explosion leaving over 200 lives roasted like Mama Bisi’s roasted yam. Hmmmm! Meanwhile, nothing justiciable has been done as regards the case of Aluu 4 of over one year. Perhaps, they have forgotten about it. But d bell still rings loudly in our hearts. The only just thing known to our leaders is to allot and share the national cake everyday while an average citizen dwells in hunger and abject poverty with over 63% living below $1 daily implying a decline in equity. Another form of ‘justice’ known to them is to fly overseas whenever they develop the slightest headache, all in the name of medical check-up, when a common #20 Emzor paracetamol would have done the magic. Their chidren sit in the same classrooms with president obama or queen of England’s children. Forgetting that Mr. Obi, a common gatekeeper cannot even sponsor his only child Chike through a community public school.
What I see in the hearts of our beloved leaders is greed, covetousness, avidity, self-centeredness and huge appetite for theft.
I really hope for God’s quick intervention for when I look at these whole, the only question that comes to my mind is WHERE IS THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT?

PRECOGNITION

Omobitan Ifedolapo: PRECOGNITION

PRECOGNITION

I staggered in like a drunkard, fell on my welcoming bed, stared at a dim flag by my bed..it has green and.....finally sleep stole me away.
.....A green field
Monkeys hopping from one tree to the other,Birds make a high pitch noise,
Butterflies display their colours,Children clasps their cymbals
Skipping here and there
Lovers in romantic atmosphere
A cocoon of a caring family
......Sounds of heavy foot steps
Gbam ! Gbam ! Gbam!

Nearer and nearer it approaches
Sounds like the dance of mortal and pestle.
Its here they say!!
Its first step on the field turned the green field into a brown field,Cracking bones of animals fell.
Closer and closer it became,
It's first glance took away the light,
Darkness filled the earth.
Its heavy feet popped into the water
And behold!...dry lands.
It bent low on the children, lovers, fathers and mothers, clenched them together and squashed them.
Humans we're weary,sick and pale.
It has abducted our domain.
....It walked past me but didn't see me
A pulpit, it held tight onto and spoke with a horrible voice
..."I am the dictator''....
..."I rule your world"
Suddenly breeze blew my white gown and light crept in from my hidden spot and shown on its face
..He turned his massive body'
Behold a fat, tall, bald looking monster
Who are you he roared?
...Out of fear came a voice...I am the voice of the youth that refused to be drowned,
why do we run this relay and the baton has refused to pass?
Why have we allowed this monster pierce our future?
Must we at all times allow our innate abilities to be held in a curfew
Our future has lost his lustre
We need our lee-way
Let's reach our eyrie
And stop them from giving us carnards let's stop this old fuddy puddy monster
Let our straining voices be tuned to high pitch
Let's kindle a fire
Let's beseige the power
Until its withdrawn unto us
Until the light shines upon the world
Until our voices are heard
Until water flows are unstoppable
Until our sick regain strength
Until our fields are ever green
